Education at CMI: The Transformational Legacy of Instituto Campero

Instituto Campero CMI

Since 1992, CMI Foods, business group of CMI, Corporación Multi Inversiones, has promoted the academic development of its team members through Instituto Campero, a nonprofit educational institution authorized by Guatemala’s Ministry of Education. This initiative is part of CMI’s broader commitment, led by Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga, Chairman of CMI Foods and Chairman of the Board at Del Real Foods, to support the holistic development of its people and the well-being of the communities where it operates.

Instituto Campero provides access to secondary and higher education for employees of brands such as Pollo Campero, Pollo Granjero, and La Siciliana, as well as staff from the call center and distribution unit (Suresa). With a flexible learning model, the program allows employees to continue their education while working, enhancing their opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Results That Reflect a Deep Educational Commitment

Over three decades of educational work have yielded measurable outcomes:

  • 1,800 graduates with a high school diploma in Science and Humanities
  • 974 employees certified through specialized diploma programs
  • 250 graduates with a Technical Degree in Service Administration
  • 620 employees currently pursuing university studies through a partnership with Galileo University
  • 14 graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration

In addition, English and computer courses (essential tools in today’s workplace) have been offered. These accomplishments reflect a long-term vision in which education serves as a pathway for social mobility and a driver of continuous improvement.

Purpose-Driven Education That Transforms

The continuity of Instituto Campero reaffirms CMI Foods’ core purpose: to create life-changing opportunities with family warmth. Each employee who completes their studies improves in their personal future but also impacts positively in their family and community.

CMI believes that investing in human capital is essential to the region’s social and economic development. Under the leadership of Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga, academic training has become a foundational pillar of the company’s corporate responsibility strategy.
