The REIR Workshops have become an essential component of the Juan Bautista Gutiérrez Foundation’s University Scholarship Program, which is dedicated to professional development with a social conscience. This year, in partnership with CMI, Corporación Multi Inversiones, a new series of these sessions was held, focusing on ethics and values. Led by CMI’s Ethics and Conduct team, the workshops provided a space for scholars to reflect and strengthen their character and commitment to society.
Using interactive methods and real-life scenarios, the students analyzed ethical dilemmas and developed skills like conflict resolution, guided by the REIR Values (laughter in Spanish): Responsibility, Excellence, Integrity, and Respect. This initiative demonstrates the vision of Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga, President of the Foundation, to develop well-rounded professionals whose leadership is based on values and oriented toward the common good.
A Progressive Model Focused on REIR Values
The program includes a five-year ethical training pathway that progresses throughout their university studies. Each year addresses a different theme:
- First year: Adapting to university life with a positive attitude and strong values.
- Second year: Developing self-esteem and ethical character.
- Third year: Using emotional intelligence to act ethically.
- Fourth year: Cultivating resilience and transformative leadership.
- Fifth year: Achieving professional excellence guided by REIR.
This structure allows the young people to integrate these values into both their academic and personal lives. As Eber Cuxé, a Mechatronics Engineering student, stated: “Responsibility isn’t just about fulfilling a task; it’s about being aware of the consequences and acting with integrity.”
A Space for Mentorship and Reputation Building

Beyond the learning itself, the workshops offer a close-knit, trusting environment between the scholarship recipients and the Foundation’s team of coaches. This mentorship goes beyond academics, reinforcing the students’ human and emotional development.
María del Rosario de Falla, CMI’s Manager of Ethics and Conduct, emphasized that a professional is defined not only by their degree but also by the consistency between their values and actions. In the words of Mariano Codoñer, an Ethics trainer, the REIR culture must be a collective experience, and these workshops are a key tool for cultivating it from a young age.The collaboration between the Juan Bautista Gutiérrez Foundation and CMI reflects an ongoing commitment to the comprehensive development of new generations. Initiatives like the REIR Workshops solidify an educational approach that seeks not only academic excellence but also personal ethics. In a global context where conscious leadership is becoming increasingly relevant, instilling values at the university level is a significant contribution to the development of more ethical and sustainable societies.
