CMI, Corporación Multi Inversiones, has received carbon neutral certification for five of its production plants in Guatemala, all part of the B4B (Business for Business) Business Unit of CMI Foods. This milestone reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainability, backed by a structured strategy that prioritizes emissions reduction, energy efficiency, and environmental stewardship in its operations.
The certified facilities include three Molinos Modernos plants and two Aliansa plants located in different regions of the country. With these new certifications, CMI now operates nine carbon-neutral plants across the region, including facilities in El Salvador and Costa Rica.
What Does This Certification Mean for CMI?
Granted under ISO 14064-1 and INTE B5 standards by INTECO, the certification is the result of a rigorous process to measure, monitor, and reduce the carbon footprint of its flour and animal feed production operations. To achieve this, CMI implemented several key actions:
- Internal training programs to strengthen environmental competencies
- Systematic data collection to ensure traceability of emissions
- Tailored CO₂ reduction projects at each facility
- Offset of 24,000 metric tons of CO₂-equivalent through renewable energy credits from CMI Capital—equivalent to planting 1.2 million trees
This collaboration between CMI Capital and CMI Foods reflects a unified corporate approach to sustainable development.
Leadership Driving Responsible Change

This achievement would not have been possible without the sustainability-driven vision led by Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga, President Chairman of CMI Foods and Chairman of the Board of Del Real Foods. This vision is also supported by Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez, Chairman of CMI’s Board of Directors, and Felipe Bosch Gutiérrez, President Chairman of CMI Capital. Under their leadership, the corporation has built a long-term strategy focused on creating shared value and opportunities for communities, with environmental responsibility at its core.
Gabriel Eisemberg, General Director of B4B, and Fátima Pereira, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability of CMI Foods, also highlighted the organization-wide commitment. Their joint efforts demonstrate how sustainability is embedded across all levels of the company.
The achievement of these new carbon neutral certifications strengthens CMI’s position as a regional sustainability leader in the food industry. This international recognition proves that it is possible to operate efficiently and responsibly—minimizing environmental impact while maintaining product quality and community well-being.
