CMI continues to set milestones for the poultry sector and food security in Guatemala with the opening of a new poultry farm by CMI Foods, a business group of CMI, Corporación Multi Inversiones, in Chiquimulilla, Santa Rosa. With an investment of $8.1 million, this facility increases chicken production to meet the country’s needs and underscores CMI’s commitment to sustainable development and job creation.

A Strategic Investment for Food Security

The recent opening of  CMI Foods’ poultry farm in Chiquimulilla represents a significant advancement in Guatemala’s food security agenda. With a capacity to house more than 500,000 birds, which translates into a production of more than 1.4 million pounds of chicken per month, there is a tangible effort to meet the food needs of the population.

Additionally, the creation of 18 direct jobs benefits the local economy and supports community development in Santa Rosa. In this way, CMI Foods contributes to the well-being of the countries and communities in which it operates, as part of the vision of Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga as Chairman of the business group.

Technology and Sustainability: Pillars of the New Farm

The infrastructure and technology used in the new facility are notable for their focus on efficiency and respect for the environment. The implementation of advanced ventilation systems and resource-conserving practices, such as a 50% reduction in LP gas consumption, a 25% reduction in electrical energy, and up to a 20% reduction in water use, reflect CMI’s commitment to sustainable practices.

These measures, along with a reforestation project that will cover more than 5,800 m² with trees, ensure a positive long-term impact on the local ecosystem.

As such, the project stands out for its impact on food production and economic development, as well as its commitment to the environment. Following the strict regulations of the Guatemalan Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN), the farm ensures proper water and waste management, promoting environmentally friendly production. In addition, the reforestation initiative is a testament to CMI’s commitment to sustainable development, which seeks to reconcile poultry production with environmental conservation.

The inauguration of CMI’s new poultry farm in Chiquimulilla reflects the corporation’s commitment to food security, sustainable development, and community well-being in Guatemala. By combining advanced technology with environmentally responsible practices, CMI Foods ensures efficient and sustainable production and contributes to economic growth and job creation in the region.
